Flowers AN Art
Most of you are already very familiar with flowers and
also designs.
But flower arranging is a different art
medium.
When we paint, when we write…. we begin with elements
that do not have inherent beauty lying in them.
Paints struggling out of a tube do not look beautiful;
it needs handling to create it into a master piece.
Alphabets which form words and then bring more meaning
and later bring out the beauty of these words through poetry and
prose.
But flowers….
They are a beautiful medium
themselves!!
We first need to respect flowers as they are,
beautiful, colorful, fragrant, each a masterpiece of creation by
itself.
If we begin with this thought in mind, then there is no
end to how we can keep creating more and more beauty from this
form.
This simply means that we first pick the colors we
want, the textures we want and then begin; going about making a wonderful flower
arrangement.
Go to your local florist pick up anything that appeals
to you, combine it with leaves out of your own balcony garden and perhaps some
extras like vegetables, and fruits.
Don’t forget that lovely silver tray or the old wooden
box…
Some beads that you can string…on a wire…. some crossed
wooden sticks…..imagination is endless.
When you are back home and look at the colors in your
hand then you decide the placement.
Placement is very important to
bring the arrangement to life.
If you have chosen pastel colors for your flowers and
the back ground you put it against is a pale wall, it will take away every
beauty from that arrangement….
If you place a pastel colored flower arrangement on a
glass table or on a white light colored table top?? What do you think will
happen…??
- Make sure that you think of
another location; or you can just add some pizzazz by hanging an unusual drape
on the wall directly behind the arrangement…. it will cause the arrangement to
look even more stunning.
- On a table simply place a dark
runner; even a contrasting cardboard paper under the vase will
work wonders.
- Here again you can cut the card
board paper to suit the look of the table, is it formal? Is it casual? What is
the occasion? Cut the paper to suit the table keeping in mind the occasion;
straight cuts, oblong or just zig zag.
We can talk endlessly on this as there is no end to
creation and no end to the extras you can add with your
imagination.
I would prefer if you ask me what problems you face
while arranging flowers …
